We turn your designs into real products, fast. Whether you’re looking for modelling, manufacturing or consulting, 3D-iT offers a flexible 3D printing service that supports you at every step of the development cycle, allowing you to have your desired goods as soon as possible.
ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) is great for functional parts and prototypes that need more robust mechanical properties than PLA. ABS matches approximately 80% of the properties of injection moulded products but is rigid and inflexible, with design freedom limited due to the Fused Deposition Modeling printing process. The surface of an ABS model is always slightly rough due to the printing process, and it can be challenging to post-process, though it can be smoothed using vapour smoothing. The infill percentage can be customised to your needs in our configuration’s “Finish” step.
ABS has a low production cost and is relatively easy to machine, making it an ideal material for mass production of everyday products. ABS is also reasonably easy to post-process as it can be glued and painted.
Examples of products manufactured in ABS include kitchen appliance housings, automobile dashboards and bumpers, protective equipment like headgear, electrical casings and covers, Lego bricks and other toys, and even musical instruments.
